Wyngaarden Pastries&Artisan Bread Redesign
A client-based website redesign focused on improving visual storytelling, content presentation, and user experience for a local bakery.
Project Overview
Wyngaarden Pastries Website Redesign was a client-based academic project developed to help strengthen the bakery’s online presence through clearer content, more cohesive branding, and a more engaging user experience. Working as part of a team, the project focused on creating a website direction that better reflected the warmth and personality of the business while making information easier for users to explore and understand.

My Role
My contributions to this project included research, moodboard development, meeting documentation, wireframing, photography, videography, and visual asset creation. I recorded and organized meeting minutes throughout the project to help track discussions, decisions, and next steps. I also created one page for each phase of the wireframing process and captured the visual content used to support the redesign, including original photos and videos of the bakery.

Research and discovery
The research phase focused on understanding how the bakery’s brand, products, and story could be communicated more clearly through the website. This included exploring visual references, reviewing content presentation, and identifying ways to make the site feel more welcoming, organized, and reflective of the client’s identity. This stage helped guide later design decisions and ensured the redesign was grounded in both brand expression and user needs.

Moodboard and Visual Direction
The moodboard was developed to establish a visual direction that felt warm, artisanal, and inviting while still remaining clean and contemporary. It helped define the overall tone of the project through imagery, colour, texture, and layout inspiration. This process was important in shaping a more consistent brand presentation and provided a clear visual foundation for the later stages of the redesign.

Wireframing and structure
Wireframes were created across multiple stages of the project to explore layout, content hierarchy, and page structure. Each phase helped refine how information should be presented and how users would move through the site. By developing a page for each stage of wireframing, I was able to support the progression from early structure ideas to more resolved layout decisions that better aligned with the project goals.

Content and Visual Asset Production
A major part of my role involved producing the visual content used to support the redesign. I photographed and recorded original images and video assets to help present the bakery in a more authentic and appealing way. In some cases, I also used an AI-assisted compositing process by photographing original background scenes and integrating existing bread images when new product photography was not available. This helped create more cohesive visual assets while supporting the overall look and atmosphere of the bakery’s brand.

Collaboration and Documentation
Throughout the project, I documented each meeting by recording and organizing formal minutes. This helped keep the team aligned on feedback, decisions, and deliverables across the different phases of the redesign. This part of the project strengthened my organizational and communication skills and showed the importance of clear documentation in collaborative client work.

Reflection
This project strengthened my skills in web content planning, visual storytelling, collaborative design, and project documentation. It also taught me the importance of balancing brand personality, user experience, and available resources when developing digital content for a real client. Working across both design and production tasks gave me a deeper understanding of how thoughtful content and visuals can shape a more effective online experience.
